Raja Ampat Phinisi arranges private charters aboard traditional Indonesian phinisi — handbuilt wooden schooners crewed for diving and island cruising across the Raja Ampat archipelago. Charters depart Sorong or Waisai, typically for 7 to 14 nights, calling at Wayag, Piaynemo, the Dampier Strait and Misool. Pricing is per boat per night for whole-vessel charters, with per-cabin rates on selected departures; rates cover crew, full board, guided dives and fuel, while Raja Ampat Marine Park fees are itemised separately. Vessels carry 8 to 16 guests in 4 to 8 en-suite cabins. To book, send your dates and group size on WhatsApp +62 811-3823-875 — the desk is operated by Komodo Luxury, and peak-season departures from October to April are best reserved six to nine months ahead.

Raja Ampat Phinisi — FAQ
How much does a Raja Ampat phinisi charter cost?
Whole-boat charters on a traditional phinisi typically run from about US$3,000 per night for boutique four-cabin schooners to US$15,000 or more for flagship vessels such as Lamima or Prana by Atzaró. Rates cover crew, full board, guided dives and fuel; Raja Ampat Marine Park fees are billed separately, and per-cabin places are sold on selected departures.
What exactly is a phinisi?
A phinisi is a two-masted wooden schooner built by the Konjo and Bugis boatwrights of South Sulawesi, chiefly around Bira and Bulukumba. The craft was inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2017. Modern charter phinisi keep the ironwood hull and gaff rig while adding en-suite cabins, dive decks and air conditioning.
When is the best time for a phinisi charter in Raja Ampat?
October to April is the prime season: seas in the Dampier Strait are at their calmest, visibility often exceeds 25 metres, and manta rays gather at cleaning stations near Arborek. December–January and July–August departures sell out nine to twelve months ahead, so confirmed 2026 and 2027 dates should be reserved early.
How do I reach my phinisi?
Fly to Sorong's Domine Eduard Osok Airport (DEO) via Jakarta or Makassar; direct services from Jakarta take about four hours. Your phinisi boards either at Sorong harbour or at Waisai on Waigeo, a two-hour ferry crossing away. Airport pick-up, porters and harbour transfers are coordinated by the charter desk before you arrive.
How do I book, and how far ahead should I plan?
Send your dates, group size and diving requirements on WhatsApp +62 811-3823-875. The desk, operated by Komodo Luxury, replies with matched vessels, a written quote and a deposit invoice; the balance falls due before boarding. Book four to six months ahead for shoulder season and nine to twelve months for December, January, July and August.
